Math- Expect to get a math page that is a practice of the week's lessons each night. See the planner for page numbers.
Word work- Spelling practice is a page of words. The students are to cut these words out, practice sorting them into categories, and practice spelling them. I do not collect any work but they are tested on the sorting and spelling of the words on Friday. If they are not studying them nightly it will reflect in their test grade. These lists are differentiated. I have four different groups so your child may be moved within these groups depending on their success each week.
Reading- The reading log in the planner is a school wide nightly expectation. In addition to reading 30 minutes I have added the read and respond journals for the third quarter. Students are to chose 3 questions to answer for the week and submit their work on Friday.
Computer programs- See your child's planner for logins to RazKids (reading program), Dreambox (math program) and Compass Learning (prepares the child for both reading and math skills corresponding to the MAPS test)
I do not give homework on the weekend. Students are expected to use the computer programs instead of paper assignments.
